Our necklaces are hand made from Oyo State, Nigeria and/or an Iyanifa.
This is a multistrand beaded necklace with cowries and a tassel. Often times referred to as a mazo eleke.
Eleke | Orisa Necklace
Orisa Necklace (Eleke) can be brought as prepared or Unprepared. We also prepare bracelets (Ide) not purchased from us.
Sizing
We measure beaded necklaces down the middle. To get an estimated size of the entire strand, multiple the number we provide by 2. For example our size 17 is an estimated 34 inch strand.
Our necklace sizes represent a range. For example: a size 17"+ could be any size from 17" to about 17.75".
For necklaces with tassels add an estimated 2-3" to account for tassel length. Example an 17"+ necklace would be approximately 20" total measured down the middle (neck loop + tassel).
Prepared
An Eleke is a beaded necklace that has been prepared or activated with the energy of an Orisa. Elekes come in various colors that represent an Orisa (spirit; energy). They are prepared to activate the energy of the associated Orisa.
Unprepared
An Eleke that is not prepared is simply a beaded necklace, that has not been activated.
