WHAT IS KOLA NUT

Obi Kola nuts are commonly used in West Africa for social and ceremonial purposes. Obi is a seasonal fruit that is in high demand. Due to it being seasonal and in high demand it is often scarce and sells fast. Typically 3 lobe obi may be offered to Esu and Ogun. 4 lobe and 5 lobe obi may be offered to Orunmila and other Orisas. When 5 lobe obi is offered, the oofa or ambiguous lobe is typically removed and only two males and two females lobes are selected and used.

Kola nut is an important cultural symbol. The kola nut is the fruit of the kola tree (Cola acuminata (white Kola) and Cola nitida (pink kola) from West Africa. The Kola trees can grow as tall as 40 to 60 feet and they produce a star-shaped fruit. Each fruit contains between two and five kola nuts. About the size of a chestnut.

Kola nuts have a bitter taste when chewed fresh. As they become more dry, the taste become milder. 1 lb of obi is about 30 obi and we tend (not guaranteed) to give a little extra.

NOTE:

**So some Obi may come with tap on it.**

Our obi is fresh. Obi Kola is a seed that grows roots. As the root emerges from the center of the kola nut pushing the lobes a part. So we tape the obi to keep the lobes together. This is done because as obi kola begins to sprout its root the lobes begin to come apart. We do not sell obi to be planted or consumed.

**Shipped Obi May come wrapped in moist/wet paper**

Because Obi Kola is a seed, allowing it to dry out will spoil it. We wrap it in moist paper to keep our Obi as fresh as possible.

Shipping and Additional Customs/Import Fees:

Customs and Import Fees

Customs fees may be placed on physical goods that are imported into a country from another country or territory. These fees are applied to international sales, but never domestic. As a buyer, you are responsible for paying the additional costs such as duties, taxes, and customs clearance fees.

Returning and Returned Items

All Items sent nationally or internationally that are returned due to nonpayment of additional fees or unable to be delivered will not be fully refunded. The shipping and service costs will not be refunded. Items that are perishable (Kola Nut, Atare, etc.) will not be refunded. It is your responsibility to check your local associated import fees and other fees, as well that the address is correct before ordering. If you want an item replaced or exchanged that is not the fault of ours (i.e. you no longer want it, the size is not as precise as you want it, etc.), you are responsible for return shipping fees.

Shipping Speed and Method

Shipping speed and method depends on the shipping option selected and shipping amount paid at time of checkout. If actual shipping fees surpasses what you paid for shipping, then the shipping speed and method that your shipping cost covers will be selected.

We make best effort to refund shipping and service overage charges. Contact us for a better estimated shipping cost. Shipping cost given online may vary from actual shipping cost. Actual shipping costs are based on actual shipping factors, such as envelope/ box size, weight, and distance from store. This is usually recommended for orders that include multiple items that require a larger box or have a total combined weight of 0.50 lbs or greater than the weight of the items sold individually.

For perished items (Kola Nut, Atare, etc.) it is recommended to select shipping speed and method that allows for 2-3 days arrival. This is especially important for international orders. Any request for faster shipping may add additional shipping costs. After 3 days, perishable items may spoil. The time given for expected shipping is only an estimate and subject to delays, as well as early arrival. We do not allow refunds or exchanges, especially not after 7 days of delivery. Some exceptions may apply.

Problems with your order

All orders, with some exceptions, are insured for theft, loss, and damages for a given amount through the shipping company (USPS, UPS, etc.) and provided a tracking number. Any mishaps, such as delays, losses, and damages, etc. after the order is sent needs to be directed to the shipping company by following their process. Typically you will need to call or file a claim by providing the tracking number and other information, such as pictures of items and shipping box, description of items, order receipt/invoice, etc. Once item is shipped, the order cannot be canceled or changed.
